Beyond Silver: Brilliant Reflections
Safe Reflections’ Brilliant® Color Reflective enables designers to create reflective clothing in virtually any color desired.

Until recently, the retroreflective materials used to make clothing and other gear visible in the dark were only available in a brilliant silver white – owing to the aluminum film under the minuscule glass beads that reflect the light coming from headlights and flashlights. Now, St. Paul, Minn.-based Safe Reflections Inc., a developer of retroreflective materials mainly using technologies from St. Paul-based 3M Corp., has successfully developed and patented such materials in seven stock colors and any number of other colors that a designer might specify. By day, these Brilliant® Color Reflective materials are seen in their full vibrant glory, but once it gets dark, the materials show themselves as brilliant white when light is directed toward them, making the wearer visible to oncoming traffic or in other potentially hazardous situations. The reflective materials are available as roll goods, heat transfers, trims and piping.
